Free Disaster Preparedness Training

The pandemic really opened my eyes to the fact that I was unprepared both with the right knowledge and items to protect myself, my family and my community in the event of the many different disaster events that can happen to us in Navarro County. If you have felt unprepared or would like information on how you can be better prepared to protect yourself, your family, and your community in the event of a tornado, flood, fire, or other disaster, here is one answer. The Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) of Navarro County in cooperation with the Office of Emergency Management and FEMA would like to offer a free online class that you can take on your own schedule that will prepare you for basic disaster response. CERT is focused on preparing you for all types of situations. Students access the training on your computer or mobile device You complete it at your pace and at your convenience. Course progress can be saved at any time and resumed later. Multimedia learning experience: videos, virtual reality simulations, audio voice over, and interactive knowledge checks. Total Online Course Time is 12 hours. “This was great preparation and may be the most important class I’ve attended if it helps save the life of one of my family or friends,” says recent student. “And, I was able to do it at home at my own pace.” After completing the online course you will receive a certificate of completion. You then have the option to receive hands on skills training in the Corsicana classroom if you want. Skills training is not required but if you complete it you will be eligible to join Navarro County CERT as a team member.
